Due to the growing needs and awareness of the need for environmental protection, certification audits are being developed to assess and calculate the recycled content used in plastics. To address the need for transparency and clarity for the entire plastic value chain, the scheme was created by members and experts in line with European standards. The resulting audit scheme for the traceability of recycled content is based on two main principles, in accordance with the definitions of ISO 22095:
Traceability
- ability to track the history, application, location or source of materials or products through the supply chain.
Custody chain
- the process by which inputs, outputs and related information are transmitted, monitored and controlled as they move through each step within the relevant supply chain.
